- A clinical outcome based on a trained professional's observation or interpretation of a patient's signs or condition, unlike a patient-reported outcome.

- Modern Benefit Assessment
- A benefit assessment using current methodological standards, including patient-reported outcomes and real-world evidence, alongside traditional trial data.
- Modern Outcome Assessment
- An outcome assessment incorporating current data infrastructure, such as electronic health records and patient-reported outcome tools, into the evaluation of care.
- Modern Quality Evaluation
- A quality evaluation incorporating current data infrastructure, such as electronic health records and patient-reported outcome tools, into assessing care.

- Outcome Selection HTA
- The process of determining which clinical, economic, or patient-reported outcomes will be considered relevant within a given assessment.

- Patient-Reported Outcome
- Any report of a patient's health status that comes directly from the patient without clinical interpretation, from symptom ratings to full quality of life instruments.
- PROM
- An abbreviation for patient-reported outcome measure, any standardised instrument capturing a patient's own report of health status without clinical interpretation.
