- Consistency
- Within network meta-analysis, the property that direct and indirect evidence for the same treatment pair agree with one another.

- Direct Evidence
- Within network meta-analysis, evidence comparing two treatments from trials in which those treatments were directly compared, unlike indirect evidence.

- Inconsistency
- Within network meta-analysis, a discrepancy between direct and indirect evidence for the same comparison, indicating the two sources disagree.
- Indirect Evidence
- Within network meta-analysis, evidence comparing two treatments derived through a chain of comparisons via a common comparator, not from direct trials.

- Mixed Treatment ComparisonMTC
- An earlier term for network meta-analysis, describing the statistical combination of direct and indirect evidence across a connected treatment network.

- A method simultaneously synthesising evidence from connected trials comparing multiple treatments, combining direct and indirect evidence into one set of estimates.
- Node-Splitting
