Professor Samar Farid is Professor and Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University, Egypt. Her work focuses on clinical pharmacy, pharmacoeconomics, health technology assessment, health outcomes research and the economic evaluation of medicines and healthcare interventions. Her research includes healthcare costs, cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analysis, pharmaceutical policy, health-related quality of life and health-state valuation. She has contributed to the development of the Egyptian EQ-5D-5L value set and to research supporting the use of locally relevant economic evidence in healthcare decision-making. Her work also contributes to the development of pharmacoeconomics research and education in Egypt and the wider Middle East and North Africa region.
