- Case Series DesignCase Series Study, Descriptive Case Series
- An observational design describing the characteristics and outcomes of patients sharing a common exposure or condition, without a comparison group.
- Case-Control DesignCase-Control Method, Case-Referent Design
- An observational design comparing individuals who have experienced an outcome, the cases, against similar individuals who have not, the controls, on prior exposure.
- Cohort DesignCohort Study Design, Prospective Design
- An observational design following a group sharing a common starting characteristic forward in time to observe a subsequent outcome of interest.
- Cross-Sectional Design
- An observational design measuring exposure and outcome simultaneously in a population at a single point in time, rather than over time.
