Using the scope responsibly
- The decision question should determine the evidence required. Available evidence should not redefine the question merely because it is convenient.
- An omitted domain should be declared when it could materially affect the decision.
- A rapid or focused HTA may be appropriate, but its narrower scope should remain visible.
- The relevant comparator is usually current practice or the activity likely to be displaced, not automatically placebo.
- This educational tool structures a scope. It does not conduct an HTA or determine institutional requirements.
